Everything about Mok Property — how we work, who we serve, and the urgency behind all of it — traces back to one year, and one lesson I learned the hardest way a person can.
In 2018, I was a corporate worker at Macquarie Bank — and my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Back then I was on the same treadmill so many of my clients are on today: a demanding corporate job, overworked and stressed, underpaid for the hours it took, with very little hope of ever escaping the rat race. My time wasn't really my own — it belonged to my job and my boss.
When the diagnosis came, it hit me like a brick. I realised I'd been pouring my best hours into my work, and somewhere along the way I'd stopped making time for the person who mattered most. The one thing I truly wanted — time with her — was the one thing I could never get more of later. But I could create the freedom to be present now, if I moved fast enough.
So that's what I did. I built our portfolio aggressively, with one goal behind every decision: buy back enough time to simply be there. By 2023 we had reached financial freedom — and I got to spend those final months with my mum, unhurried and fully present. She passed away not long after.
I have no regrets. Because I didn't wait. And that is the single reason this business exists — and why I push so hard for my clients today.
Wealth was never about the money. It's about time — and time is the only thing you can't earn back.
Lily and I built ten properties and reached financial freedom by the age of 30 — on ordinary corporate salaries, while working full-time, under the toughest lending conditions in a generation. We started after the 2017 APRA crackdown, when borrowing became genuinely hard: the same conditions most investors face today. No business income to lean on, no shortcuts.
Along the way, I drew on a career spent across the disciplines that actually shape an investment — property law, tax, superannuation and lending — and trained as a certified NLP coach. Because the longer I did this, the clearer it became that the biggest barrier to building wealth is rarely money. It's mindset.
Lily — my partner in life and in business — walked every step of this journey with me, from the very first property all the way to financial freedom. Today she makes sure every client is looked after with the same care we would want for ourselves, guiding them through settlement and the moments that matter most.
Together, we are living proof of what we tell every client: two people on normal salaries really can build something extraordinary — and a life with the freedom to actually enjoy it.
That's the whole reason we do this: to help everyday Australians build the kind of freedom that buys back what matters most. If that resonates, let's talk.
